Risk management is a practical way of finding and fixing workplace health and safety problems.

Risk management involves six steps, which are likened to the problem-solving process, that when taken in sequence (lead) to informed decisions about how best to avoid or control the impact of these risks. We specialize in the management principles of risk management and are continuously researching the concepts to ensure our clients receive risk management services that are effective and affordable.

The steps are:

  • Hazard identification in processes & tasks
  • Evaluate the risk attached to each interaction
  • Establish Risk Profile
  • Prioritizing
  • Risk Control
  • Monitor & evaluate outcome & Management Review
RISK ASSESSMENT / HIRA

The importance of risk assessment cannot be overstressed. “What you cannot measure, you cannot manage!” is often said. Risk assessments are the cornerstone and heart of any SHE / RISK program. The first step in complying with the Occupational Health and Safety Act is to embark on the risk assessment road. Nearly all-preventative legislation coming into force today, including the OHS Act, is based on the identification of hazards and the evaluation of risks to determine compliance needs.

We specialize in:

  • Baseline Assessment
  • Issue based Assessments

that can include all risks to which your organisation is exposed.

On completion of our assessment, the client is issued with a comprehensive risk profile indicating the level of risks/classifications and recommendations for control.

The first step in the risk assessment process is to identify what hazards the company and its people may be subjected to. A hazard can be classed as anything that can cause harm to organisational resources. This can be achieved by carrying out a walk-through survey and talking with the people who carry out the work activities.

The process is a proactive measure to protect the business from the ravages of costly accidents and incidents, those involving injury and non-injury to personnel as well as damage to property and the environment.
In terms of health & Safety, identifying the hazards is the first step towards this goal, followed by carrying out a risk assessment of those hazards and making improvements where the risks are unacceptable.

Hazard Identification – Tools

The identification of hazards is the first step in any hazard and risk assessment. A range of techniques is available for conducting hazard identification. Prior to commencing a study, we review the proposed technique with the client to ensure it will suit the requirement.
Generally, we find hazard identification workshops are the most effective method. These involve personnel familiar with the facility/operation, working together with our experienced risk assessment specialists.

The following tools are available within GSRC Management:

  • HAZOP
  • Fault Tree Analysis
  • Failure Mode Effect Analysis
  • Human error analysis
  • Combinations, etc.

We also offer issue base training within these identification tools.

Risk Evaluation – Methodologies

GSRC Management has earned a strong reputation in the development of Risk Assessment Methodologies which are accurate, easy to use, fast and reliable. Our methodologies are unique and evaluate risks according to the control measures in place.
Our unique assessment methodologies will enable participants to make better risk decisions by considering all risk influences and to create a culture that can profit from the positive side of risks.

In order to obtain new business and retain existing business, many companies are now obliged by their clients to implement and maintain a safety system in their business. This can be both a costly exercise and a time consuming one, requiring specialised skills not easily available, forcing companies to employ additional personnel for this function.

Fortunately, GSRC Management has developed the answer. We have a star grading system that is based on the internationally recognised OSHAS 18001:2007 standard, and as such, this gives smaller companies the opportunity of competing with much bigger businesses when tendering for business. It also ensures that our client’s safety systems are carefully designed and implemented for their own unique requirements, and not a generic system that fits all sizes.

Our System is based on six elements that cover all aspects of a business, and is a truly integrated system, taking safety management into Risk Management, to ensure the safety of all resources of the company.

So you need to conduct work on a construction site and you need to develop a SHE Plan for the project. This is a time consuming and detailed task that needs your full attention. Let our skilled and competent Safety consultants assist you and you can focus on your business.
