Event Management

Assisting in ensuring adequate training

If you are hosting an event that will attract more than 2000 people, you will need to comply with the requirements of the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events act 2 of 2010 (SASREA).

The act is aimed at ensuring the safety of spectators and attendees at these events after the disasters that befell some sporting events in the country, such as the Ellis Park Stadium disaster in 2001. Failure to comply with this act can lead to fines and prison sentences for the organisers and venue owners.

Whilst the act is seemingly straightforward, there are a number of issues that need to be addressed by the organizer of the event, such as the appointment of a suitably experienced safety officer who is ultimately responsible for the safety of the event.

Some of the issues that we at GSRC Management assist with are:
  • Risk categorization
  • Liaising with local SAPS
  • Preparation and presentation of the JOC file
  • Venue grading certificates
  • Environmental health
  • Emergency medical services
  • Disaster management
  • Waste management
  • Security plan
  • Venue operations, etc

These are some of the required points to be considered and our team of safety experts can assist with and implement these requirements at your venue.
